hello trying to set up qos one way sensor between 2 different lans in out network there are routers, fw and different vlans between the core to the remote probe. while using the recommended parameters of 1000 packets, 20ms between 2 packets im getting no packet loss, using wireshark i saw that in the first 30 seconds it send out all of the 1000 packets and than using the ssl to communicate with the core for the next 30 seconds. im trying to achieve the closest scenario to our voip, meaning sending the 1000 packets during the whole minute without the 30 sec break. tried to change the parameters to 60ms between packets and got a 2% packet loss constantly. looking for a whole minute cover up using prtg 9.

not sure what are the correct parameters to set.

appriciate any help

thanks

Hello,

I'm afraid we strongly recommend sensors to not use the full scanning interval for checks, because they need to have a certain "reserve" for timeouts. A normal scan should not exceed max. half of the scanning interval. Instead it may be better then to work with two QoS-Sensors on with a longer scanning interval, and maybe one with a shorter interval but also sending less packets.

best regards.

assuming im going for a one way sensor only with less packets is 500 packets with 20ms between each in a 1min interval should be good enough?

That should sum up to a total of 10 seconds, if I'm not mistaken, so yes that should be fine.
