Is there a way to install a remote probe on a Windows 2000 host?

I have a netweork that only has Windows 2000 boxes. Any way to install a remote probe on those boxes or are we back at our sought after Linux Remote probe on a VM?

I'm afraid it's the Linux+VM solution. Probes cannot run in any way on Windows 2000.
