We have problems monitoring a certificate with the SSL certificate sensor. Maybe someone here can help us.

Here we are using a telephone infrastructure from Cisco ("Cisco Unified Communication Manager", CUCM), and one component of it ("Cisco Unified Instant Messenging and Presence", CUP) uses 2 CA signed certificates. One of these is used for a web interface and can easily be checked with PRTG via port 443. The other one is the reason I'm writing here. The certificate is used by the IM clients (Cisco Jabber) to speak XMPP with the server on port 5222.

When this port is used for the SSL certificate sensor PRTG shows the following error message:

Failed to establish secure connection [Step 0] Error connecting with SSL. EOF was observed that violates the protocol [Step 1] Error connecting with SSL. EOF was observed that violates the protocol [Step 2] Error connecting with SSL. EOF was observed that violates the protocol [Step 3] Error connecting with SSL. EOF was observed that violates the protocol [Step 4] Error connecting with SSL. EOF was observed that violates the protocol [Step 5] Error connecting with SSL. EOF was observed that violates the protocol"

Had someone here the same problem and could solve it? Is it even possible to monitor the XMPP certificate with PRTG?

The SSL Certificate sensor is going to attempt to connect to the port to validate the certificate. However, for certs like this, the SSL Certificate sensor really doesn't work right. The same thing happens with the SSL Certs that Exchange uses to secure communication between the database and the CAS servers. PRTG detects the SSL, but it cannot validate them as they are not traditional SSL certs for websites.
