We installed a new windows server 2019 with PRTG Core 20.4.64.1402. As recommended we installed .net Framework 4.8. Unfortunately we cannot activate the VMWare SOAP plugin. It still displays the error message that no .net 4.7.2 is installed. We tried to install the 4.7.2 Developer Kit because the normal installer stops with the message that a new version has already been installed. We checked the registry and it shows .net 4.8. As far as I can tell .net 4.8 is not recognized by the prtg core server.

Are you adding the sensor to the Local Probe or a Remote Probe?
In case you are adding the sensor to a Remote Probe, then you will need to install .NET 4.7.2 or later on the system running the Remote Probe.

I found the problem. The credentials from the vmware server were no longer stored. So it was my mistake. Unfortunately the message was a bit misleading.
