Is there a way to use TCP instead of UDP for the Syslog sensor?

Dear fishmaninc

PRTG currently supports only Syslog messages sent via UDP. We don't see much demand for TCP-based Syslogs at this time. This may change in the future.

Thanks, I figured that would be the case.

Dear Paessler team,

are there any news on this request?

Kind regards

Dear dk,

as of now, we don't plan to add features to the Syslog sensor. We compiled feedback to the Syslog sensor as well as our own ideas, but as of now there is no single feature which would help many users. Instead, there are a lot different requests. If Syslog gets more used, the overall usage rate might justify improving the build-in Syslog sensor at a point in the future. But it is impossible to say when, or even if.

Don't suppose there will be support for RELP?

Currently there are no plans to support RELP, since threre's nearly no demand here at the moment as well. The syslog sensor has a few limitations and cannot directly be compared to a dedicated syslog server.
