Dear Support,

I have problem when monitoring CentOs7. I got this reference : https://https://helpdesk.paessler.com/en/support/solutions/articles/76000063850 from support team. And have been followed all instruction but, PRTG still can not monitor via SNMP. I try to test it using SNMP Tester, and It's work.

Thanks.

Hello,

What exact error message are you getting when trying to set SNMP sensors to monitor CentOs7?

Hi, Sorry for late reply.

The error message is : No Such Name (SNMP error # 2)

but when I'm trying to test using SNMP Tester, it's work. here is the result :

Hello,

The "No such name" error means that the specified SNMP object was not found. This can have various reasons - changed OID, network connection problems, etc.

Which exact SNMP sensor type are you trying to set?

Are you getting the same error message for all SNMP sensors on this device?

Please use SNMP Tester again and perform a test "Scan Interfaces". Is it showing any error?

Hello Astolfo,

What's the SNMP Tester result when selecting the "Read Device Uptime" option under "2. Select Request Type"?

Best regards,

Hi

I'm trying to setup SNMP on our CentOS 7 (10.192.167.10) server. I want it to send SNMP traps to our Probe installed on 10.192.167.2.

So far I have:

group notConfigGroup v1 notConfigUser group notConfigGroup v2c notConfigUser

view systemview included .1 view systemview included .1.3.6.1.2.1.25.1.1 view AllView included .1 80

access notConfigGroup "" any noauth exact systemview none none

syslocation Unknown (edit /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf) syscontact Root <root@localhost> (configure /etc/snmp/snmp.local.conf)

dontLogTCPWrappersConnects yes

rocommunity public 10.192.167.2/32 agentAddress udp:161 syslocation "Company" syscontact support@company.com

Using Paessler SNMP Tester, I get:

----------------------- New Test ----------------------- Paessler SNMP Tester - 20.2.4 Computername: DDBDC02 Interface: 10.192.167.2 02-07-2020 15:31:07 (12 ms) : Device: 10.192.167.10 02-07-2020 15:31:07 (17 ms) : SNMP v1 02-07-2020 15:31:07 (21 ms) : Uptime 02-07-2020 15:31:09 (2028 ms) : SNMP Datatype: ASN_UNIVERSAL 02-07-2020 15:31:09 (2033 ms) : ------- 02-07-2020 15:31:09 (2037 ms) : DISMAN-EVENT-MIB::sysUpTimeInstance = No response (check: firewalls, routing, snmp settings of device, IPs, SNMP version, community, passwords etc) (SNMP error # -2003) ( 0 seconds ) 02-07-2020 15:31:11 (4044 ms) : SNMP Datatype: ASN_UNIVERSAL 02-07-2020 15:31:11 (4049 ms) : HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrSystemUptime.0 = No response (check: firewalls, routing, snmp settings of device, IPs, SNMP version, community, passwords etc) (SNMP error # -2003) ( 0 seconds ) 02-07-2020 15:31:11 (4053 ms) : Done

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Hello Michael,

If you want to receive trap messages in PRTG, you will need to set up a SNMP Trap Receiver Sensor. Also, make sure that SNMP is correctly configured on the target device, and that no firewall is blocking the connection on either side (since you are getting a 2003 error in the tester).

Kind regards,
