Hey, is it possible to monitor exchange online queues? We had a problem that all mails to external people have been stuck in exchange online with pending status due to a firewall problem at our side. We noticed this far too late, so here the question....is it possible to setup a sensor to monitor the number of mails in pending state or other tool to see if exchange online is delivering messages correctly?

Hi there,

Just to check, did you already review the Exchange Mail Queue (PowerShell) Sensor?

Hey Sebastian, thnx for your answer.

I checked the page you are referring to, but this is for an onpremisse exchange server. In fact i want to monitor the 0ffice365 exchange server queues.

Hi Benny,

You're correct, the native sensor is for on-prem Exchange servers. There is no native sensor for monitoring the mail queue on Office 356.
Out of curiosity I also spoke to our IT guys. There are multiple limitations and a high risk that you lock your own Office 365 account when requesting information from an external source, for instance a script and secondly there is not really a dedicated mail queue. Office 365 works with clustered mail servers in different regions which would require checking each queue and some kind of aggregation afterwards.

You may be able to set up alerting in Office itself. Please see Queue alerts and Queues, and Alert policies in the security and compliance center.

Sebastian
