Is it possible to automate the integration of new devices, in an already created group and using a specific template?
Can the PRTG API do that? Or are customs sensors the most appropriate?

Unfortunately there is no possibility to create new devices via the PRTG API.
You have the opportunity to run an auto discovery with a desired template, If the new devices are in the same network segment. Therefore, you have to open the Settings menu of the desired group and enable the option Auto-discovery with specific device templates, which you can find in the Device Identification and Auto-Discovery section. After that, you can choose the desired template and set a schedule for the automatic creation of new devices with the Schedule option.
