Hi

We have an old installation that never got upgraded due to the changes in the maps section, which was ages ago. We would like to resume the upgrade, but the installation is very old.

What would be the correct upgrade path? Are there intermediate steps or can we upgrade to the newest version in one step?

Are there any other concerns that we should be aware of?

Thank you for your help.

Hi there,

The only intermediate PRTG has is the 16.x.21. Since then you always directly update to the latest version.

Just make sure that you have valid maintenance, so you can run the latest version and that you install .Net Framework 4.7.2 or .Net Framework 4.8 on all Remote Probes on the Core Server.

Best regards.

Hello Paessler

We've just completed the upgrade from v17.3.32.2478+ to v19.4.53.1912+. The upgrade completed without any issues and all probes were also automatically updated in the process.

However - after the upgrade it started with the "1000+x Background cache recalculation" (as expected). Unfortunately the core server was rebooted before this process completed, but the cache recalcuation never seemed to continue.

As far as I see it this process was not finished and also not resumed - is this something that I should be worried about or can I manually initiate it to make sure that it is up to date?

Thank you in advance!

Hi Jesper,

You can restart the cache recalculation via the webinterface under "Setup | System Administration | Administrative Tools". In here you have to click on Go! in the Recalculate PRTG Graph Data Cache section.

Kind regards
