Hi there, Is there any limitation in Ping Jitter sensor interval? In my case, it become "down" in intervals lower than 60 seconds. I need it for 10 second interval. Thanks a lot

Hello Hossein,

Thank you very much for your contact.

Yes, you can define scanning interval for your sensors. To do so, please navigate to Setup | System Administration | Monitoring within PRTG but also check this article, which provides additional information and why it isn't always recommended to lower the scanning interval.

Dear Sebastian, i know i can define scanning interval for my sensors, but my issue is certainly related to this specific sensor and this specific interval. My "Ping Jitter" sensor goes down when i set intervals lower than 60 seconds i mentioned. It has not any problem with 60 seconds intervals and higher. My PRTG version is 17.x . Appreciate if you could help me in this regard.

Hello Hossein,
Hello yalda,

Thank you for your responses. I assume that your Ping Jitter sensors are down with the following error message:
Ping jitter can't finish in time, increase the scanning interval or decrease the ping count

The reason for it is that per default, the Ping Jitter sensor sends out 50 ICMP requests to the target device. If you set a scanning interval of 10 seconds for this sensor simultaneously, it is expected to go down.

By decreasing the scanning interval to 10 seconds, you also need to apply a suitable Ping Count within the sensor's "Settings" tab.

Best regards,
Sebastian
