how do you do your monitoring for switched networks? We have a handful of switches with redundant connections. The main connection is 10 GB, one or more backup connections with 1 GB and then there is an emergency connection with 100 MB. How can I monitor this sensibly? Only with the monitoring of the bandwidth? or does it even make sense to monitor the spanning tree port status? Or maybe you use a completely different product? Thank you! Tobias

We are monitoring all Uplinkports with a bandwith sensor. Also we use a ping sensor for reachability of the management address. If lacp or STP will get a port down notification. Also you can Use the syslog sensor of the probe, to receive syslog messages. A Span-Tree Event could be send as a syslog message (depending if this function is available on your device).
