Hello,
We have a vcenter cluster - with 1000+ VM -s in it. We user SOAP sensors to monitor the hardware and storage - and would like to use the VM -s as well: but in case of VMs (for corporate structural reasons) it would be nice to be able to "filter" based on any possible way: - we might use some kind of filter in the template (but as far I konw it is impossible to do so in the template)? - we might use the clusters or foldes vcenter has to offer (but I did not found any hint for that in PRTG and I was unable to limit the user PRTG uses to have such a limitated access)?
does anyone any hint how could we proceede?
thanks in advance,

Hello,
I understand the limitations - but is there no walkaround - except to use multiple vcenter infrastructure) ?
As we do have one vcenter and one datacenter inside vcenter, but we have multiple clusters: vcenter/datacenter/cluster1 vcenter/datacenter/cluster2
I was wondering there might be a way, to use some kind of limited vcenter user which has only access for cluster1 for example. But I did not found the correct privilege settings in vcenter.

Hello,
Sounds like a clever way in order to filter the results of the meta scan. I'm afraid that I cannot provide these privilege settings in VMware as well, maybe another community member can help you our here.

I found the correct privilege setting - so the Answer was, to create a custom read-only user exclusive privilege for the cluster in question.

Hi there,
I'm afraid that it's not possible to add any filters to the device templates to just created particular VMs. The auto-discovery will automatically add all machines which are visible while performing the meta-scan.
