Hello torture13,

Thank you very much for your knowledge base post.

Please allow us to review the SNMP results provided by your device, for this we'll need you to download our latest SNMP Tester. Run it on the PRTG Host (or host of the Remote Probe), and perform an "Walk" against the target device using the following OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.3.2.5 as parameter.

Kindly configure the Device's IP/Port and SNMP Credentials accordingly. Please send us the resulting log from the Tester.

Best,
Sebastian

Hello Sebastian,

I have tried run from SNMP Tester the OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.3.2.5 and I get the

23/1/2017 15:24:57 (33 ms) : SNMP V2c 23/1/2017 15:24:57 (44 ms) : Walk 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.3.2.5 23/1/2017 15:25:02 (5064 ms) : Error: -2003

23/1/2017 15:29:23 (34 ms) : SNMP V2c 23/1/2017 15:29:23 (46 ms) : Walk 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.3.2.5 23/1/2017 15:29:23 (59 ms) : Error: 5

I have configure the SNMP Windows service and have Installed HP WBEM and Insight Agents as well.

Thanks,

Hello torture13,

May I kindly ask if you change anything between the two walks as they show different outputs:
23/1/2017 15:25:02 (5064 ms) : Error: -2003 vs. 23/1/2017 15:29:23 (59 ms) : Error: 5
Furthermore, please answer the following questions:

  • Please check if a restart of the ProLiant server solves this problem.
  • Does this issue also affects other sensors on that device, or do the sensors work normally?
  • What is the currently configured scanning interval for the sensors on that device?
  • Do standard sensors like "SNMP Traffic" or "SNMP Uptime" also fail?

    Best,
    Sebastian
