I read your stance regarding customization of PRTG. So is it possible to customize "notification email" HTML format for versions older than 17.4.35 ?

Well, the templates do reside in the following folder. Note that an update is likely to overwrite them:

C:\Program Files (x86)\PRTG Network Monitor\webroot\mailtemplates
