Hi,

Our NOC team need sometimes to do Acknowledge warnings or suppress warnings with a reminder. Sounds very weird that such a large system does not have the option to do so? it is something completely legitimate, is there is any way to do it?!

Thanks,

As of now, there is no way to acknowledge warnings or have reminders for acknowledged items. The problem here is not that we'd have an additional state (warning and warning acknowledged), but it potentially creates many (many) new events in the backend, since this is the way PRTG triggers notifications:

  1. Object is in certain state
  2. Event "Object changed state to x" (and triggers notification)
  3. Object is in a certain state

Thus, you'd need to cover all events of this state to happen from and into every other possible status. It's one of our more frequently requested features, but the implementation is not trivial.

Regarding the reminders (for acknowledged alarms at least), it would be the simplest to set the last alert mail to follow-up in your mail client at a certain date.

This question has been asked for over 10 years. Funny that PRTG hasn't added this feature, does PRTG require an explanation as to why this is important to some customers? I have engineers looking at PRTG on a regular basis and when warnings show up in the Sensor Alarm Status someone needs to acknowledge(sorry you cant do that) the warning so another engineer doesnt run down the same rabbit hole, does no one at PRTG understand how their product is used? Time to get this change in the queue before people move away from PRTG to another tool, dont you think?

Hi Ronald,

I can understand your frustration and we take it very seriously.

Unfortunately the reality for us is that we have to prioritize a multitude of feature requests, ideas for improving PRTG and modernization efforts against each other. At the same time, as my colleague Stephan wrote above, the technical solution for this specific feature is not trivial.

Please be assured that we at Paessler listen to all feedback and are committed to continuously improving PRTG for our customers.

With kind regards,
