Hello Community, For the implementation of PRTG in an Oracle Linux 7 environment we would like to monitor the time service "chronyd" as well. We are still completely new to this area. Unfortunately we could not find a sensor that allows the monitoring. Is there an alternative solution to monitoring the time service for functionality? Is there perhaps a solution that we can not find through the search function? We would be very happy about a short feedback, maybe you have a good idea? We do not know any further.
Best regards

Hi Stephan, Thanks for the super fast response. We would like to have the status and the difference between the server time and the real time. Is this possible?
Thank you very much.

Well, with a bash script, you could monitor the time difference. Maybe the following script is helpful: https://helpdesk.paessler.com/en/support/solutions/articles/71923-monitoring-linux-distributions-incompatible-with-the-ssh-disk-free-sensor
You'll have to modify the script accordingly, it should just be a starting point. As for the service state, check out this one :)

Hi. Did you find a solution? I wish to do the same, but we don't have the knowledge, to rewrite the bash script.

Hi Simon,
What exactly would you like to monitor about the service? Just its plain state (running/stopped) or metrics?
Kind regards,
