PRTG API - Get count of sensor by type

Is it possible to get the count of sensors by type for each device? Whether that be a one or two step process?

PRTG currently don't offer an API Call which is able to give you the desired information. You only have the possibility to generate of sensors which are located on device but not the sensor type.
