Hi,

is it possible to add new print queue sensors automatically when adding a new printer at the printerserver (Win Server 2016)? We´re using the wmi-sensors to monitor our queues for long running print jobs

Best regards Dennis

Hello,

you can create a custom device template, and setup template-based auto-discovery in the "Settings" tab of that device, using that template. Auto-discovery can be set to run once every hour.

Auto-Discovery only adds new sensors, it does not duplicate existing once nor does it remove unused sensors.

Hello Arne,

the automatic discovery didn't find any printer. So we used the Printer Queue Sensor (https://www.paessler.com/manuals/prtg/windows_print_queue_sensor). If we now add the printers of the server and then create an device template, we have only the existing printers in the template. The Auto-Discovery does not add new printers. I think the auto-discovery-function isn't working with printer queues. Important: We want to monitor the queue at a printserver, not the printer itself.

Hello,

we checked this, it appears to be a bug. There is no ETA for a bug, as the root issue seems to be quite deep.

We bought PRTG 1 week ago and are on the same problem. Would be really helpfully, when you save a template that the autodiscover is detecting new printers automatically... Looking forward for an update.
