Hi Community,
We would like to have a custom traffic sensor which find all our switchport interfaces with the description 'Uplink' and which will be added to the monitored switch via template.
If we use the already defined traffic sensor from PRTG then all switchport interfaces will be monitored but we only want to monitor our uplink interfaces.
Thanks for any reply!
Cheers, HM1990

Hello there
Thanks for reaching us.
This is a good approach, unfortunately, there are some limitations that affect this process. Just as explained on this KB topic, https://helpdesk.paessler.com/en/support/solutions/articles/82797-add-specific-interfaces-to-device-template-for-switches
https://helpdesk.paessler.com/en/support/solutions/articles/71962-how-to-add-interfaces-with-a-certain-description-on-the-port
Basically, you cannot add this feature to a device template.
As an alternative, I can suggest following a closer procedure involving modifying the device template in order to include the connected interfaces only https://www.paessler.com/support/videos-and-webinars/videos/device-templates
Cheers
