Hello, i want to ask a couple of questions about SMTP Sensors, i try configuring a simple SMTP Sensor that will monitor Mail Server downtime. I don't need any preformance statistics or anything like that.
The questions i have are:
- Can you monitor a remote server not in the network you are monitoring?
- If yes, I can't seem to find target setting(what server are you actually monitoring)
- Do i need to log in to a email address hosted on the actual server.

Hello,
Thanks for contacting us.
Short answer is yes, you can monitor a remote server as long as it is accessible/reachable from PRTG perspective. You will need to add the device to the probe and then add the sensors you need.
Other option you have is to configure a Remote Probe on that remote network. Here's more on this topic: https://www.paessler.com/support/how-to/remote-probe-installation
Hope this helps.
