I'm trying to add an snmp sensor for traffic on a core router and performance is very slow. Selecting the interfaces is very slow, but server resources are barely even used.

How many actual interfaces does the core router have?

I started to have the same issue on a Cisco 6807 with 2 48 port cards. Any ideas? I do have some SNMP views on this device, will PRTG timeout and wait?

Are you using SNMP v3 by any chance? If so, please try to configure SNMPv2 to see if it alleviates the problem.
