I just use PRTG to monitoring my VMWare and the message show "OK" but can't ping to IP address of this VM.

I want to change message to "Warning" if can't Ping to VMWare, where can i setting?

Sorry, that's not possible. If a device is not pingable, PRTG will show it as down.

Dear Stephan,

I have VM name "test91" and it have IP address "XX.XX.0.199" .

Firstly, i enable network for this VM and it can ping normally. Afterward, i disable network and it can't ping.

I try to re-scan this VM on PRTG but it's still show message "OK"

I want to show message as "Down", How can i setting it?

PS. For the test step above, i want to test if VM have Bluescreen after update patch on Windows, it must be show message "Down"

Hi Kittikom,

Thanks for clarifying that. The VM is not down for the sensor (as it's still running and queried via VMWare, not via its network). You'll need to add a ping sensor to the device that resembles the VM itself (i.e. create a new device with the IP *.*.0.199).

Otherwise, you'll not be able to detect if the actual network of the host is down.
