Hi Paessler,

We have a requirement to store historic data for 2 years coming into place soon, in prep we have run 365 day retention for 5 months now and it seems to have utilised nearly 1.6tb of disk space. Please can you tell how, if at all, i can enable aggregated historic data whereby something like the following would take place

5 min interval data retained 1 month 1hr for 6 months 24hr for 1 year

etc

Similar monitoring solutions i have worked with in the past have been able to store equal amounts of data for 5 years without breaking the 1tb barrier so i really hope this is possible otherwise it may affect our ability to continue our use of PRTG for monitoring.

Hi Sam,

In PRTG, the intervals are not linked to retentions, i.e. you cannot configure them seperately. The only way to save some space is to enable NTFS compression. The used space usually goes down to 1/3rd of the original size and should not have any influence on data integrity, at least we have no reported incidents.
