Helllo!

I am using the SMNP traffic sensor / bandwith sensor to monitor traffic going to through a firewall. This works - no problem

Example:

ChannelIDLast Value (volume)UnitLast Value (speed)UnitMinimumMaximumUnit
Downtime-4
Traffic In0437,675KByte59,757kbit/s0 kbit/s445,377kbit/s
Traffic Out137,458KByte5,114kbit/s0 kbit/s503,224kbit/s
Traffic Total-1475,133KByte64,871kbit/s0 kbit/s948,601kbit/s

Question about the last Value (volume) data. What is the start date/time of this value. Is it counting since the big bang?? is it counting since the first day of the month?? is it counting since 00:00hr (every day starting over again?)

Anyone knows the answer?

Hi Fred,

Thank you for the KB-Post! The period of "Last Value (volume)" relies on two distinct factors:

  1. The "Last Scan"-Value, which shows you when the last scan was performed.
  2. The "Interval" when the measurement was made, in other words the time frame.

For example: If your sensor has a scanning interval of 5 minutes (300 seconds) and the last scan was 32 seconds ago, then the interval for this volume measurement is from 332 seconds ago to 32 seconds ago.

Next to the "Overview-Tab" in your Sensor, there is a "2 days-Tab", where delimited time-frames (DD.MM.YY HH:MM:SS - DD.MM.YY HH:MM:SS) are aggregated, there you can see the volume broken down by specific time periods. It's also possible to chose an customized "Start and End date/time" and Average on the "Historic Data-Tab" to view a custom period/average.

Best Regards,
Emec
