Hi,
I have problem adding Hyper-V Virtual Machine sensor on scvmm 2016 server 2016. the error is 80041010: The specified class is not valid. All other wmi sensors are fine(cpu, memory...) When i try to add Hyper-V Virtual Machine sensor on the Hyper-v host it is ok. But because the vm migrates from host to host it is no good solution. Please advice.

Hello Eugen,
Then why when the sensor creation fails there is recommendations:
The parent device for this sensor must be a Hyper-V server or a System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM). We recommend using System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) as parent device, because this way PRTG will continue to monitor your virtual machines also when they change the physical host using Live Migration.

Hello Aleksandar,
We're sorry for this experience. This is definitely an error. I will contact our documentation team to change this text for the next stable release.
Do you use already our latest version of PRTG?
best regards,
Eugen

Hi Eugen,
We use the latest available update: 17.3.33.2830+
i think this is an important sensor to be added or bug fixed. this kind of sensor works for vmware environment(directly on vCenter and vm machine sensor).

Hello Aleksandar,
We don't support WMI Hyper-V Virtual Machine on SCVMM Devices.
Please check out this article how you could workaround this problem: How can I monitor SCVMM devices?
Hope this helps,
best regards
Eugen
