I already have an existing user, but I would like to be able to add him to a group that has expanded capabilities. How do I add the existing user to a group without re- creating the user all over again?

PRTG user/group
You can simply add him in the group setup itself. Navigate to Setup | System Administration | User Groups and open the group you want to add him. Tick the checkbox and hit save, you're done.
AD user/group
If it's an AD user, the group membership is managed via AD. Simply add him to the groups, no nested membership via a different group though, and login with that user again. He'll be added then.
