Monitor if Mails were sent

Hello

I was wondering if there is a possibility to monitor, if mails were sent by an application. I imagine it like that. The application is sending an additional mail to a Postbox on our Mailserver and PRTG would check, if that mail arrived. Is that somehow possible?
