Do you need to be connected to your router via ethernet to set up and monitor all devices connected?

Dear featherjade80

PRTG comes in two flavors:

  • The classic PRTG. This has to be installed by you on a computer in your network which can access all devices you want to monitor. With every license (even the freeware) you can setup remote probes. This is an application which connects to your PRTG server via TCP port 23560, making it quite easy to monitor multiple networks with one PRTG core server.
  • The PRTG in the cloud solution which is currently (mid 2017) in the beta phase. Here, the core server will be setup in the cloud (using Amazon services.) To monitor your private network, you can setup remote probes, just like for the classic PRTG.
