We were installing a new probe today and note there seem to be some differences (we are currently on version 17.1.30.1618).
The installer is now called "PRTG_Remote_Probe_Installer_for_hostname_with_key_{xxxxxxxx}.exe. What is this about and what is they key?
Secondly, it appears that you can no longer change the install path from "C:\Program Files (x86)\PRTG Network Monitor". We were in the habit of installing onto the D partition but this is no longer provided as a configurable option.
When and why were these changes introduced? Can we specify a command line option to choose the install path?
Hello Tymbow,
The {xxxxxxxx} key is related to the Probe Access Key which is necessarily required for the PRTG Core Server / Remote Probe connection.
Your assumption is correct. PRTG is been installed on the C: drive by default, you will no longer be prompted within the installation process. If you are intending to change the installation path anyways, please run the setup via the command line adding /DIR="x:\dirname".
Please see this article for further information on possible command line codes.
Best regards,
Sebastian
