I have set up a file monitor for a log file created by a script I wrote. I found this thread: https://helpdesk.paessler.com/en/support/solutions/articles/12003-is-it-possible-to-monitor-a-text-log-file-with-prtg

But the problem I have is that I can't get the monitor to go back to normal state after it has triggered. I have set it to only send the latest lines, but once it has found a line with the text I'm looking for, the monitor goes to a warning state and stays there, even after it has read lines in that do not contain the target text.

I need the monitor to trigger once when it sees an error and then return to normal when it has seen non-error lines go into the log file.

Is this possible?

Regards, Malcolm.

Hi there,

Did you already try the option Only transmit to PRTG new lines at the end of the file (default, BETA)? If the new lines do not contain the string anymore, the sensor will change the status back to green.

Hello,

Sorry for missing this part in your question. Please enable the "Write sensor result to disk (Filename: "Result of Sensor [ID].txt")" options in the settings of the sensor and forward the results to support@paessler.com for further analysis. The logs will be stored in the data directory of PRTG, by default this is:

C:\ProgramData\Paessler\PRTG Network Monitor\Logs (Sensors)

Please also attach a screenshot of the complete settings page of this file content sensor.

Best regards, Felix
