I'm setting up monitoring on our datacentre at the moment, and our requirements are to scan at 5 minute intervals on most of the sensors during business hours, but at a 1 hour interval for these same sensors out of hours. Specifically talking about 'SNMP HP Physical Disk' type sensors at the moment but guessing this applies to pretty much every type.

What's the best way of setting this up? I realise I can create two sensors for each device which needs monitoring, one on a business hours scanning schedule and one non-business hours, but this will split the historical data between two sensors which isn't ideal. Alternatively, using the same two sensors with a schedule on the notifications rather than the scanning would keep the historical data in both sensors, but will double up on scans 24/7 and show two sensors as down which are both for the same device, again not ideal.

Any alternatives I haven't thought about yet?

Hello,

Thank you for your KB-post.

I am afraid that this cannot be achieved using any of the default options in PRTG, sorry.

You already mentioned the alternatives :)

So you could either pause the sensors at night completely using schedules or another option might be to create the sensors twice with different scanning intervals.

Best regards
