After clicking on the "Test"-Button on the notification, did you keep an eye on the messages in the System Log (select Logs | System Events | Notifications from main menu)? Which error message did appear there?

Is the PRTG host server allowed to perform SMTP-relay to outside domains?
Also, which target domains did you try for email-addresses? Are / were according mx-records defined, on the DNS servers, which the machine running PRTG, can reach?

Hello,
Thank you for the KB-Post. Which exact PRTG Version are you running?
Also, please click on "Test" on an email-notification in PRTG, and then keep an eye on the messages in the System Log (select Logs | System Events | Notifications from main menu). When trying to send an email, PRTG logs whether sending was successful or not. Are there any errors referring to sending the test email?
best regards.
