On which of these vSphere Environments can PRTG gives us the best
scenario 1....Monitoring the ESXi Hosts with SOAP and other vMware Protocols sensors as listed on the select sensor page of PRTG. Scenario 2....Monitoring the ESXi Hosts by bundling them into vCenter server (both the vCenter Appliance and the installer) and allowing PRTG to monitor them through WMI in the case of installer and using SOAP and other Sensors in case of VCSA. If possible could you list the possible sensors that can be captured by PRTG in both scenarios.

What of the Datastores in a case of clusterd ESXi hosts? and can PRTG Captures the intenal state of a SAN, the LUNS, Storage Processors, HBAs etc and RAID level?

Basically you can use all sensors of type "VMware something" listed here on a vCenter or on single ESXi hosts.
For VMWARE HOST HARDWARE STATUS (SOAP) SENSOR and VMWARE HOST PERFORMANCE (SOAP) SENSOR we recommend to query the ESXi host directly instead of going through vCenter due to performance reasons.
When you already use vCenter and you want to monitor virtual machines with the VMWARE VIRTUAL MACHINE (SOAP) SENSOR it makes sense to add the vCenter as device, otherwise those sensors break when the virtual machines wander around using vMotion. This does not happen when they are monitored using the vCenter as device.
If you furthermore want to monitor single virtual machines with specific sensors, you need to add the virtual machine as a separate device as you would with every regular device in order to put WMI or SNMP sensors on it for example.
