I'm creating some maps.
I have a layout of a site, with a number of devices around the site in the correct position. However its quite a large site, and when there is a fault the only way you can see this is by looking carefully and seeing the light red colour where the sensors are.
So I have an icon for the device, then a number of smaller icons below it with the name of the device. Only the bottom section goes red. I would like the background of the full icon to go a bright red so the eye is drawn immediately to it.
I have attempted the instructions here :
https://helpdesk.paessler.com/en/support/solutions/articles/64436-can-custom-status-aware-icons-be-used-within-maps
But this doesn't appear to work

Hello Richard,
Thank you for your KB-post.
You can try using "Status Icon" -> "Sizeable Icon on Status Related Background", to see a big, red icon when a device goes down.
Alternatively, you can try using tips from the article that you already mentioned.
Please note that custom map objects as well as customizations to the web interface with custom html, css, and javascript are not officially supported. We can point you in the direction where you can start, but we cannot provide deeper support regarding coding your own map objects.
Best regards
