A project was handed down to me to get PRTG monitoring all of our ports in our Dell 5548p switch stack. Adding the SNMP Traffic sensor (http://i.imgur.com/NkZ7VWy.png), I can see all of the options available to monitor any/all ports (http://i.imgur.com/2R0Bx4y.png) I want which is expected.
When I add (lets say X amount) of ports, PRTG can talk to all of the Gigabit ports fine but throws back "No such instance error 223 (http://i.imgur.com/rDVaABX.png)" when trying to read the 10 Gigabit ports . I couldn't find anything in researching and I even tried to find its specific OID number with the SNMP Tester from PRTG with no luck.
I don't think its a permissions or read issue since PRTG can SNMP query the other ports in the switch stack (see last link). Am I missing something or just not understanding anything properly? I wanted to see if anyone else has seen this before I contact PRTG support. Appreciate any insight/help.
Hello there,
When adding several sensors and selecting something from "Additional Channels" like "Errors In & Out" in the "Add sensor" dialogue, this will be applied for all selected interfaces. Now if there are interfaces that don't provide counters for those additional channels, it leads to single traffic sensors with this error "No such instance". Try adding sensors again without selecting anything from "Additional Channels" at first to see if the sensors for the 10GBit interfaces work then. You can still enable those additional channels afterwards to see if it is supported.
Kind regards.
