Monitor Backup Mysql RDS

We are currently migrating our database servers to RDS in Amazon. I am interested how I can utilize PRTG to monitor this instance. Particularly wanting to understand how I can monitor for success/failure of backups. Any guidance appreciated.

You want to monitor the backup state of your MySQL instance? Or the Amazon instance itself?
