it was working fine but now it stopped completely. i get the below message:

10/19/2015 10:25:14 AM None Group Root Notification Info Error sending "Email": Connection failed ("10.123.110.220")

i checked with our system admin team and nothing is blocked from their side. the IP mentioned above is our DNS server.
