Is it possible to trigger an auto-discovery of a device using templates from the API? The API docs don't seem to mention anything about this, but thought it may be a feature that is possible just undocumented?

Figured it out, you need to set the device discovery options prior to calling the autodiscover method. In our case we amended the device template that we use to create new devices to include the relevant options.
This is working as expected now.
