Hi,
I have some questions regarding SNMP traffic/bandwidth sensor
- what is the raccomended polling interval to monitor interface trughput (traffic in/out) in Cisco IOS router?
- How PRTG calculate the bandwidth/traffic and which OID use? (does it perform calc between time/interface packets?
- what is the default OID refresh in Cisco IOS and is it adjustable?
Currently we are using 5 minutes interval but we want to be more granular
Many thanks
edit just added the numbering for better readability

Hi there!
- For SNMP, you should be able to go down to 30 seconds. You could also go to 10 seconds, but note that all values beyond that are not supported and might cause strange behavior in PRTG. Especially with a lot of sensors.
- That's company secret :) But you're somewhat close.
- The OIDs always hold the current value at the time of the request.
Hope that helped :)
