We are trying to monitor a cisco 4500x cpu. It works but only intermittently. when it shows down it gives the #223 err. noting is being changed on the switch or the probe. why is this intermittent?

Hello,

Thank you very much for using PRTG. Do other SNMP based sensors then show the same error when the CPU Health Sensor throws this error? Can you please upload some screenshots showing the "Overview"-, "Settings"- and "Log"-Tab of this sensor? Thank you.

best regards.

All other sensors seem to be working, i believe its a format issue with the 4500x's. That is the only Cisco devices we are having this issue with.

Can you try to use our SNMP Tester run it on the PRTG Host, and perform a SNMPWalk against the target device with the following OID

1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9

Please send us the result logfile from the Tester via email with a reference to this ticket. Thank you!

In some cases the issue can be related to a bug in the IOS Image installed on the device, according to this Cisco Bug Report (CSCus46296):

Symptom: snmpget request failed 'No Such Instance currently exists at this OID'
Conditions: SNMP configured on switch with the following images
IOS cat4500es8-universalk9.SPA.03.06.00.E.152-2.E.bin
cat4500es8-universalk9.SPA.03.07.00.E.152-3.E.bin

Known IOS Fixed Releases:
15.2(2)E2
15.2(3)E1
